Q
How do I get my fish to Jody’s Seafood Specialties while I am staying at a
Fishing Lodge on Prince of Wales Island?
A
When you come in from your first day of fishing tell your fish cutter on
the dock how much you would like to send to Jody’s Seafood Specialties and
how you would like it smoked. From there, your fish cutter will contact
Jody and make all the arrangements for you.
Q If I want to get some fish smoked,
when is the best time to do it?
A
The best time to get fish smoked is from your first day’s catch of
fishing. This way Jody can get the fish smoked and vacuum packed in time
for you to take home with you.
Q Can I ship my seafood home instead
of carrying it on the airlines?
A
Yes you can. We ship seafood via Fed Ex or Alaska Airlines. Call for
current prices and information.
Q How long does the Smoking Process
take?
A
The Smoking process takes one full day – 24 hours. The amount of time the
fish takes to process may vary during the summer months depending on the
amount of seafood needed to be processed that day.
Q How long will
my fish last in the vacuum packed bags?
A
Fish will last in the vacuum packed bags for about a year. Once nice thing
about vacuum packaging is that you can always tell when the seal of the
bag is broken because you will see air in the bag and the fish will begin
to get freezer burnt. If this is the case make sure and eat those pieces
first. Q Do
I need to keep my fish frozen?
A
Fresh salmon should always be kept frozen and will last in the fridge for
about one week. Smoked salmon on the other hand should be kept frozen but
will last in the fridge for about two weeks.
Q How many pounds can you fit in a
fish box?
A
The Airlines regulations states that you cannot have over 50 pounds in a
fish box.
